Diversity Rock

Ten-Minute – (6M/4F). “Diversity Rock” is a charming play that is a testament to our times. This play centers around a group of kids at a neighborhood playground. The main characters, Hadji, Lucy, Schroeder, and Charlie are excitedly engaging in different activities when a new group of kids arrives. These new kids, Dick, Jane, Trixie, Boris, and Esperanza, are first seen as a threat, making the original group nervous. Schroeder, a compassionate, open-minded boy, stands up for the new kids, giving birth to “Diversity Rock,” a game that allows them to learn about each other’s cultures, traditions, and backgrounds. As the play unfolds, the kids ask each other questions about their cultures and share their interests and hobbies. It is through playing this game that the children laugh, bond, and grow, leading to a much better understanding of what it means to be different, and sending a strong message about the importance of acceptance and kindness towards those who may appear different from us.
