Green Stamps and Buried Truths

Drama/Tragedy · 7 actors

Delores, 85, gathers her five estranged children on her birthday to paste vintage S&H Green Stamps, recreating a 1966 Norfolk memory. Tommy, 63, hasn’t seen his family in forty-five years. His sisters love their stepfather, “Pop.” Tommy sees him as the man who destroyed everything. As they paste stamps, joy turns to confrontation. The buried truth emerges through flashbacks: November 1967. Delores’s affair with John. Her Navy husband, Pie, is coming home with a gun, threatening to kill the family. Fourteen-year-old Tommy punches his father, grabs the gun, burying it behind a fig tree. John helped them flee to Pennsylvania that night. Tommy lost everything, father, home, friends, dreams. Each sibling confesses their survival strategies: Tommy’s exile, Mickey’s shame over her imprisoned son, Ruby’s alcoholism, Cindy’s escape, and Kim’s denial. Delores speaks her truth: loving John wasn’t a mistake, it saved her. Through tears and apologies, fragile reconciliation emerges. The family continues pasting stamps, broken but together. Healing one stamp at a time. The gun remains buried in Norfolk.
