The Fortuneteller’s Defense

Comedy · 6 actors

Set in a small magistrate’s courtroom in Pattaya on New Year’s morning, the play follows the unusual case of Khun Somchai, a self-proclaimed fortuneteller charged with theft. His alleged crime: stealing a young woman’s phone to prove that he had accurately predicted she would lose something valuable. As the proceedings unfold, Somchai calmly argues his actions were necessary, not criminal, while the complainant, a sharp nursing student, exposes the flaw at the heart of his claim. Balancing humor with philosophical insight, the play explores how far one can go to prove being right, and what is lost in the process.
